Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has commenced the payment of the recently approved N70,000 minimum wage by the federal government. The new Minimum Wage bill was recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu, following negotiations with organized labor. While some governors have expressed concerns about their ability to meet the new wage due to economic realities, Governor Fintiri has taken the lead in implementing the new minimum wage. Starting from August 2024, state workers will begin receiving the increased salary, with local government workers set to receive it from September. The news has been met with widespread celebration among civil servants in the state, who expressed their appreciation to the governor for fulfilling his promise and commended him for being a man of his word. This implementation of the new minimum wage marks a significant achievement for the Fintiri administration, which is popularly known as the Fresh Air Government.
