Faithful Golden Retriever Refuses To Abandon Injured Owner Stuck On A Steep Hill, Raises Alarm To Local Community And Rescuers.

A lone golden retriever was spotted by concerned neighbors, pacing back and forth along a steep and forested roadside hill. The dog appeared frantic and was leashed but had no owner present.

On August 1st, the good-hearted neighbors from Ross Township, Pennsylvania came forward to help. They held onto the dog’s leash and noticed the owner, who had fallen down the sharp slope, dozens of feet away. Concerned for the fallen man’s well-being, they immediately dialed Allegheny County 911 just before noon. The incident was reported to Ross/West View emergency services, who quickly responded to the situation. According to The Epoch Times, Ross Police arrived first, followed by an ambulance. Additional emergency teams, along with fire and public works personnel, arrived on the scene to commence a complex rope rescue operation.

The fallen man had sustained a serious hip injury, rendering him unable to move or rescue himself. Ross/West View EMS director Greg Porter informed the newspaper that it was a left hip dislocation due to the fall from a hillside of approximately 30 feet.

According to Mr. Porter, the loyal golden retriever deserves credit for saving its injured owner by alerting the neighbors. The dog remained at the top of the hill, agitatedly pacing back and forth, drawing attention from the nearby residents. Concerned for the dog’s behavior, the neighbors approached it and heard the injured man calling for help. Immediately realizing the situation, they promptly dialed 911.

Upon arrival, the first responders discovered the neighbors holding onto the dog’s leash. The golden retriever stayed nearby until the patient was safely rescued. Assurances were given that the dog would be well cared for and looked after by a neighbor while the patient received medical treatment. The next day, the man was discharged and sent home to reunite with his faithful golden retriever, as confirmed by Mr. Porter.

Showing their gratitude, the rescuers gave a special shout-out to the loyal dog on Facebook. They expressed their appreciation for the dog’s diligence in alerting the neighbors and rewarded it with treats and a refreshing bowl of water on the hot day!
