ABUJA – In an impressive display of skills, Tim Ayomike emerged as the winner of the Guest Prize at the IBB Captain Inaugural Golf Tournament held in Abuja last weekend.
Competing at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Ayomike, a handicap-6 golfer from Ikoyi Club 1938, carded an excellent 72 net score to secure the coveted prize.
Ayomike, widely regarded as one of the top single-club golfers in the country, participated in the event organized to mark the inauguration of the newly elected executive committee led by Ibrahim Babayo and Julie Donlie.
In the men’s handicap 1-18 flight category, Shola Adebayo emerged as the overall winner with an outstanding nett score of 63, showcasing his skills as a 13-handicapper golfer.
Expressing his excitement, Adebayo stated, “Whenever you win, it’s an immensely gratifying feeling. I am extremely happy to have won this event as the competition was tough.”
Michael Rafferty clinched the victory in the men’s handicap 0-10 flight category with a competitive score of two strokes less than his rival, Mohammed Kangiwa, who carded 84.
In the men’s handicap flight 11-18, Emmanuel Chioba showcased his golfing prowess by firing an impressive 69 nett, narrowly defeating Yakubu Dogara by just one shot.
Meanwhile, in the professional category, Godwin Okoko emerged as the winner, posting a score of 68 gross and surpassing Kamalu Bako based on a countback decision.
During the prize-giving ceremony, Babayo expressed gratitude to the club members for their trust and support in the newly elected executive committee. He assured them that their trust would not be taken for granted.
