The National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) has welcomed its new Director General, Mr. Saleh Abubakar. Following his recent appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Abubakar officially assumed the position of DG/CEO, taking over from his predecessor, Dr. Yusuf Maina Bukar, OON.
The handover ceremony was held at the NAGGW Conference Room Corporate office in Abuja on Wednesday. During the event, Abubakar expressed his commitment to build upon the foundation and further strengthen the achievements accomplished by his predecessor in combating desertification and promoting the sustainable development of the Nigerian drylands.
Abubakar also emphasized the importance of teamwork and requested the maximum support from the management and staff of the Agency to fulfill its mandate. In his remarks, he praised the outgoing DG for his diligent efforts and professionalism in achieving the Great Green Wall program’s objectives of halting desertification and restoring degraded lands.
Dr. Yusuf Maina Bukar, reflecting on his own tenure, expressed gratitude to the management team for their support and cooperation throughout his leadership. He urged them to extend the same level of support to the new DG.
The newly appointed DG, Mr. Saleh Abubakar, holds a degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and possesses extensive experience in public administration, with decades of involvement across various sectors.
