The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), will be leading influential figures from the aviation industry at a forum aimed at finding solutions to the growing concerns about the state of the Nigerian aviation industry and the unpredictable nature of domestic airline operations.
The 28th edition of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) Annual Conference, which will take place on Friday, July 26th, will bring together CEOs of government agencies to give an account of their performance, while airlines operators and other stakeholders will assess the various challenges affecting their operations.
Mr. Keyamo, who has confirmed his participation at the event to be held at the Providence Hotel in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, expressed his belief that this gathering of industry leaders presents an opportunity to exchange ideas with operators, business owners, and others on how the country’s aviation sector can thrive in the current macro-economic environment.
He stated, “The challenges facing us and the industry are not insurmountable. It is important for us to come together, especially at the LAAC conference. It provides the best opportunity for us to analyze and address each challenge systematically and come to a consensus on the necessary steps to achieve our goals.”
He called on stakeholders to approach the conference with open and progressive minds, recognizing the immense potential of the aviation sector to boost the country’s GDP and create employment opportunities for its population of unemployed professionals.
The Secretary of the LAAC Conference Planning Committee, Mr. Albinus Chiedu, stated that Mr. Keyamo will serve as the special Guest of Honour, with Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe, the CEO of CITA Group, chairing the proceedings. The keynote speech will be delivered by Engr. Umar Farouk, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). Capt Samuel Caulcrick, a former Rector of the Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, and Dr. Alex Nwuba, the Second Vice President of the Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI), will be presenting papers on various issues.
“Friday, July 26th, 2024, is just a few days away, and we eagerly anticipate this event,” added the LAAC Conference Planning Committee in their statement.
LAAC is Nigeria’s premier aviation media umbrella body, ensuring effective media coverage and practice in the aviation industry.
