Fulham secured a 1-0 away victory against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, with Super Eagles stars Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi featuring prominently in the match.
In one of the late Premier League fixtures last night, Fulham emerged victorious with a solitary goal at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.
Both teams boasted Super Eagles players, with Iwobi and Bassey representing Fulham, while Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina started for Forest.
Fulham had been in excellent form lately and were considered slight favorites for the win. They dominated proceedings in the early stages of the game, while Forest were content with catching them on the counterattack.
In the 19th minute, Awoniyi had a good opportunity to score but narrowly missed his volley. The first half saw limited goal-scoring chances, and at halftime, coach Nuno Espirito Santo decided to substitute Awoniyi with Anthony Elanga.
However, the substitution failed to provide Forest with the desired attacking impetus. Just three minutes into the second half, they conceded a penalty. Fulham striker Raul Jimenez calmly converted the penalty to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Iwobi had a decent chance to score in the 61st minute following a well-built play from the midfield. Unfortunately, his strike was blocked by a defender. Despite Forest’s search for goals, they struggled to create significant opportunities in the final third.
Aina performed adequately, although he wasn’t influential in the attacking aspect. On the other hand, Bassey displayed a solid defensive performance for Fulham. After 90 minutes, the match concluded with a 1-0 victory in favor of Fulham.
