The call in Erin Keller’s heart to return to her previous home and retrieve the stray cat she had been feeding for months was insistent and difficult to ignore. Her husband had expressed concern that the cat might actually belong to someone, but Keller insisted that no one in the neighborhood claimed ownership.
So she found herself back in her old neighborhood, stepping out of her car in search of the cat. To her surprise, the once-wary feline ran towards her and lovingly snuggled into her arms as if recognizing her. Convinced that it was the right decision, she decided to adopt the seemingly abandoned cat.
Little did she know, this decision would answer the prayers of an elderly man located more than 1,000 miles away. The man had been praying for three years to be reunited with his lost cat, Ladybug.
William Dorsch, the elderly man, explained that he had lost Ladybug during a road trip from his home in South Florida to Ohio. He had stopped at a restaurant in Tampa, where Ladybug slipped out of the car and went missing. Despite extensive searching, Dorsch was unable to find his beloved cat and was forced to continue his journey, heartbroken but hopeful for her safety.
Meanwhile, the Kellers’ family continued to grow as they welcomed two baby girls. Ladybug, now named Pusskin, became a cherished member of the family and took on the role of guardian over the children, following them wherever they went and providing comfort and companionship.
The Kellers kept in touch with Dorsch and updated him on Pusskin’s adventures. However, the correspondence suddenly ceased, and they later discovered that Dorsch had passed away after battling cancer. Despite being unable to connect with his family, the Kellers treasure the letters, photos, and the knowledge that their decision to adopt Pusskin brought comfort and joy to Dorsch in his final years.
To the Kellers, this connection feels divinely inspired rather than coincidental. They believe that their devotion to a stray cat ultimately healed a kind old man’s broken heart, and they consider this experience and their bond with Pusskin to be priceless treasures.
