Trump’S Move To Engage Younger Voters Through Video Livestreams

Former President Donald Trump attracted a significant online audience on August 5th during a 90-minute interview with a young influencer. This interview is part of the former president’s latest efforts to connect with and engage voters in their 20s and 30s.

In discussing this new wave of communication, Trump suggests that the influence of once-popular TV shows appears to be diminishing. Participating in traditional programs like CBS’ 60 Minutes would now likely garner little attention, while appearances with nontraditional interviewers tend to create a bigger impact.

Trump also highlights that his main competitor, Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumed Democratic presidential nominee, has not given any interviews since becoming the heir apparent 15 days ago. On July 21, President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, endorsing Harris as his preferred successor.

This endorsement came just eight days after Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The attack left three people wounded, including Trump, and resulted in the death of one rallygoer.

During the interview, the former president is praised for his bravery by Ross, the young host, recalling Trump’s reaction in rising up after being shot, with blood streaming down his face, and passionately shouting, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” Trump appreciates the love displayed by those who stood their ground at the rally out of concern for him.

Trump values the opportunity to address a young audience and even jokes with his youthful host, saying, “My suit is older than you are.” This interview with Ross is just one example of the Trump campaign’s unconventional tactics aimed at attracting younger voters.

In criticising current policies, Trump argues that they fail to meet the basic expectations citizens have of their government. Meanwhile, Ross urges his audience to vote for Trump, emphasizing the importance of their votes.

Ross also incorporates a game from Nelk Boys, asking Trump to quickly give his thoughts on well-known individuals shown in photographs. Trump describes Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as having a certain “spark,” despite initially labeling her as “fake.” He also reacts to pictures of world leaders, referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “liberal,” Chinese President Xi Jinping as “powerful,” and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un as “very tough.”

Trump comments that dealing with foreign leaders and external enemies can be easier in some ways than handling internal enemies. He acknowledges that a smart president can effectively tackle external threats but underlines the ongoing challenge posed by internal adversaries who are willing to undermine the country.
