In an open letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, expressed his concerns regarding the current policies implemented by the President. Drawing a comparison with Adolf Hitler, Adams stated that Nigerians are currently suffering due to the harshness of Tinubu’s policies.
Adams urged President Tinubu to reconsider and reverse some of these policies, emphasizing that time is of the essence. He addressed Tinubu as the leader of over 65 million Yorubas in the South-West region of Nigeria, as well as one of the 200 million Nigerians.
Highlighting Nigeria’s extensive natural and human resources, Adams stressed the disappointment of past leaders in properly utilizing and managing these resources to benefit the nation and its people.
Referring to Tinubu’s promises during the 2023 elections, Adams noted that many Nigerians had hoped for better governance under his leadership compared to the previous administration. However, according to Adams, these hopes have been dashed as Nigeria continues to face worsening economic conditions and rising insecurity under Tinubu’s rule.
Adams pointed out the drastic increase in fuel prices and the depreciation of the Nigerian currency against the US dollar since Tinubu assumed office. He also raised concerns about the escalating insecurity across the country and questioned the effectiveness of briefings received by President Tinubu from key security chiefs.
Expressing concern for the plight of Nigerians, Adams called attention to the dire economic situation and criticized the government’s decision to further burden its citizens with soaring fuel prices. He questioned whether Tinubu considered how other countries, such as China, treat their citizens before implementing such policies.
Adams concluded by drawing a parallel between Hitler’s rise to power and the current state of affairs in Nigeria. He warned that similar disastrous consequences could befall Nigeria if the government does not address the issues affecting its people.
