First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited has announced the appointment of two accomplished professionals to its board of directors.
Mr. Ademola Adebise, a highly respected figure in the Nigerian financial industry, and Mrs. Olufunmilayo Adedibu, a distinguished lawyer with extensive experience in legal practice and banking, have joined the bank as non-executive directors.
Their appointments have been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), underscoring their credibility, competence, and suitability for the roles.
With over three decades of experience in the banking sector, Mr. Adebise brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to FCMB. He previously served as the Managing Director of Wema Bank Plc and was recently appointed by the federal government as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Family Homes Funds Limited.
Throughout his career, Mr. Adebise has held key positions in various sectors of the financial industry, including technology, risk management, and strategic planning. He has also been associated with prominent Nigerian banks and non-banking financial institutions such as the legacy Chartered Bank, Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc, and Accenture (a global consulting firm). Mr. Adebise currently serves on the Board of AIICO Insurance, AIICO Capital, and Duchess International Hospital.
With a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Lagos Business School, Mr. Adebise combines technical expertise with business acumen. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Furthermore, he has completed executive programmes at prestigious institutions such as the University of Cambridge and Harvard Business School.
Mrs. Adedibu, the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary of FCMB Group Plc, brings a remarkable 32 years of post-graduation experience to the First City Monument Bank board, with expertise in areas such as corporate banking, commercial banking, risk management, banking operations, insurance, and compliance.
She obtained her LL.B degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, LL.M degree from the University of Lagos, and B.L from the Nigerian Law School. Before joining the banking industry, Mrs. Adedibu gained valuable experience in litigation, company law, copyrights, and patent laws while working at the law firm of Chris Ogunbanjo and Co.
Mrs. Adedibu has participated in leadership and management training programs at esteemed institutions including Harvard Business School, Wharton School of Business, Queens School of Business Canada, Lagos Business School, and Euromoney Loan Documentation and Advanced Loan Documentation Training in New York.
She is a member of prominent legal associations such as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Bar Association (IBA). Additionally, Mrs. Adedibu is a life member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), an honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB), and a member of Toastmasters International. She also serves on the Board of CRC Credit Bureau Limited.
The appointment of Mr. Adebise and Mrs. Adedibu is expected to strengthen First City Monument Bank’s leadership and contribute to its continued growth in the Nigerian market.
