Aibom Monarch Calls On State Government To Invest In Health Facility Development.

Uyo, Akwa Ibom State – The paramount ruler of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Okuku Ime Inyang, has called on the state government to provide support in terms of equipment and staff for Utit Obio Community Hospital. The hospital, built in 1981 through community effort, has been neglected by successive administrations since the creation of the state in 1987. The plea was made during the flag off of a four-day free medical outreach sponsored by the member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the State House of Assembly.

The monarch expressed gratitude towards the lawmaker for initiating the outreach program, which aims to bring healthcare services to many community members in the area. He described the lawmaker as a patriotic, worthy, and exemplary son of Ibiono Ibom who has made the community proud through his people-oriented representation. The hospital, whose foundation was laid in 1981 by the then governor of Cross River State, late Dr. Clement Isong, requires urgent intervention from the Akwa Ibom State Government to ensure its optimal operation.

The monarch also praised Senator Bassey Akpan for facilitating the donation of hospital equipment and medical items to the facility during his tenure. The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Elder Udeme Otong, commended the lawmaker for his thoughtfully designed healthcare program that aims to address various health challenges faced by the people of Ibiono Ibom state constituency. Representing the speaker, Hon Lawrence Udoide acknowledged Essien as an articulate and vibrant member of the assembly, and applauded his effective representation and prioritization of the health and wellbeing of his constituents.

The sponsor of the free medical outreach, Hon Moses Essien, emphasized that the program aims to provide vital health services to the vulnerable and elderly population, who often lack funds to access medical attention. The initiative aligns with the Umo Eno-led administration’s health care and rural development blueprint, focusing on the development agenda of the region.
