The Future Guardians Initiative (FGI), a non-governmental organization (NGO), has recently recognized and awarded 24 exceptional students and six teachers from LEA Primary School in Zone C, Apo Resettlement, located in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This initiative aims to promote and incentivize the pursuit of high-quality education.
The beneficiaries of this recognition and rewards program include students who achieved first, second, and third places in their respective classes (ranging from Primary 1 to 6). Additionally, the top-performing students from each class were also acknowledged and rewarded.
During the event, the NGO’s founder, Mr. Chidiebere Eze, addressed journalists and highlighted that the organization plans to grant scholarships to deserving students as part of its long-term vision. The Future Guardians Initiative is deeply invested in the future of children, recognizing them as the leaders of tomorrow.
Mr. Eze shared, “Since 2016, we have been actively encouraging and rewarding brilliant students. This is our third edition of such initiatives. In 2016, we rewarded students from a school in Nasarawa state. In 2018, we visited this school and honored exceptionally gifted students with educational materials.”
Returning to the same school, the organization aimed to continue rewarding outstanding students with educational supplies, including water flasks, books, and pens. Additionally, exceptional teachers were also acknowledged for their contributions to the students’ development. Mr. Eze expressed his appreciation for the government’s dedication to improving education, emphasizing the importance of providing necessary facilities for children’s learning.
Paving the way for future endeavors, Mr. Eze declared, “In our long-term plans, we aim to introduce scholarship schemes for students. Outstanding students will be selected from various classes and awarded scholarships. We also intend to visit other schools to applaud exceptional students and teachers. This will motivate them to continue their valuable contributions to national development.”
With the upcoming summer vacation, Mr. Eze advised parents to enroll their children in productive activities, especially skill acquisition programs. This will keep the students engaged and productive during their break, preparing them for the next academic year. Undoubtedly, these children are the future guardians and leaders of tomorrow, deserving of our support and encouragement.
The organization also aspires to collaborate with other NGOs, recognizing the significance of collective efforts in improving the lives of Nigerian children. The Founder emphasized, “If we unite to enhance the future of Nigerian children, it will be beneficial for all. The betterment of Nigerian children remains our top priority. Teachers are encouraged to continue their exceptional work in molding children we can all be proud of in the future.”
The Head-teacher of the school, Chief Sir. Goje S. Gupada, also praised the NGO’s initiative to recognize and reward talented students. He urged students, parents, and teachers to make the most of the vacation period and explore skill acquisition opportunities.
Chief Sir. Gupada remarked, “We are beginning our vacation today, and classes will resume on 8th September. Therefore, I strongly advise parents to enroll their children in skill acquisition programs. I’m thrilled that the Future Guardians Initiative chose our school for this recognition of exceptional students. It is always gratifying to reward intelligence. Those who may not receive rewards this time should strive harder to be acknowledged next time. As educators, we will always give our best to the students, and we appreciate organizations like the FGI for their valuable interventions.”
