Kellyanne Conway, a seasoned political advisor who worked closely with former President Donald Trump, has taken on the role of a foreign agent to represent Ukrainian interests in Washington.
Conway’s decision to register as a pro-Ukrainian foreign agent comes at a time when there is widespread skepticism within the Republican Party regarding continued U.S. support for Ukraine. Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio), who was Trump’s running mate, has been vocal about his opposition to providing Ukraine with more military aid, and this sentiment is shared by several populist Republican members of Congress.
Through her filing with the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), Conway aims to engage U.S. lawmakers, experts, and opinion makers in order to emphasize the importance of Ukraine in upholding the rules-based order and safeguarding democratic principles. This indicates her intention to challenge the positions of Vance and other Ukraine skeptics. The filing also suggests the possibility that Conway might lobby President Trump himself on this matter.
In addition to her advocacy work, Conway is tasked with providing an assessment of the current perception of Ukraine among U.S. elected officials, candidates, experts, and influential figures, as part of her responsibilities towards philanthropist Victor Pinchuk. Pinchuk has close ties to the Ukrainian government and his foundation’s charitable activities focus on supporting the government. The primary beneficiary of Conway’s activities, as stated in the filing, is the Ukrainian government.
Conway’s contract with the Pinchuk Foundation will conclude on November 14, nine days after the 2024 election. She will be compensated with a monthly payment of $50,000.
At the time of writing, no comments have been provided by KAConsulting or the Trump campaign regarding Conway’s new role.
