Miami Dolphins Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa Experiences Second Concussion During Loss To Buffalo Bills

The Miami Dolphins experienced a familiar and concerning event on Thursday as their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, suffered another concussion during the game against the Buffalo Bills.

However, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is focused on the well-being of his player rather than worrying about the timeline for his return. “The furthest thing from my mind is what is the timeline. We just need to evaluate… We’ll get more information [Friday],” McDaniel stated.

McDaniel is primarily concerned about Tua’s health and hopes for a smooth recovery. He emphasized the importance of taking a day-by-day approach, especially when dealing with concussions. “I’m not worried about anything that’s out of my hands… I’m just worried about the human being,” McDaniel explained.

Tua Tagovailoa previously suffered a concussion on September 29, 2022, when he was carried off on a stretcher during a Week 4 Thursday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He made his return on October 23 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and played for two months before sustaining another concussion against the Green Bay Packers on December 25.

Despite these setbacks, Tua managed to stay healthy throughout the 2023 season and led the Dolphins to the playoffs. However, his latest concussion raises concerns about his future in the sport. McDaniel, cautious not to speculate on medical matters, stated, “I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to forecast things [from a medical standpoint] that I don’t know in my non-field of expertise.”

The team is now awaiting more information on Tua’s condition. McDaniel expects him to undergo a thorough evaluation and hopes for positive news. He expressed his support for his teammate and stated, “Just really praying for Tua, and hopefully, everything will come out alright.”
