Law enforcement authorities in Virginia have identified the suspect believed to be responsible for burglarizing a campaign office for Donald Trump’s presidential bid in 2024. The Loudoun County Sheriffs Office (LCSO) has named the individual as Toby Shane Kessler, a 39-year-old man. The office has obtained an arrest warrant charging him with burglary in connection to the break-in that occurred at the office situated approximately 30 miles away from downtown Washington.
The LCSO has revealed that Kessler seems to have been present in the Washington Metropolitan Area since at least 2018 but possesses a California driver’s license. The targeted building, located in the 20000 block of Ashbrook Place, functions not only as the Trump campaign office but also as the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee headquarters.
The break-in transpired at around 8:11 pm and was captured by surveillance cameras within the office. Earlier this week, authorities released still photos of the suspect, described as a white adult male dressed in dark attire and carrying a mustard backpack.
Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman addressed the rarity of political campaign or party offices being subjected to break-ins, emphasizing their determination to identify the suspect and thoroughly investigate the motives behind the incident, as well as assess any items that may have been taken or left behind.
Following a thorough investigation, the LCSO has determined that Kessler forced his entry into the office through a back door and spent only a brief period inside before exiting. As of now, it remains uncertain whether he took anything along with him or if he left any items behind at the scene.
The office is actively cooperating with other law enforcement agencies in their efforts to locate Kessler and is requesting assistance from the public as well. Individuals who believe they have spotted Mr. Kessler or possess additional information regarding the burglary are strongly urged to contact Detective Franks at 571-918-1869.
