The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) South-West Nigeria Chapter has sought collaboration with TVC Communications, a media organization, in an effort to address the increasing incidence of fraud in Nigeria. During a courtesy visit to the Group Managing Director/CEO of TVC Communications, Victoria Abiola Ajayi, Dr. Titilayo Fowokan, the President of the ACFE South-West Nigeria Chapter, emphasized the importance of promoting awareness of fraudulent schemes and keeping Nigerians vigilant against such activities.
Dr. Fowokan praised TVC Communications for its commendable leadership and delivery of innovative content, highlighting the shared values and objectives between the two organizations. She emphasized that a partnership between the ACFE and TVC Communications would significantly contribute to preventing and detecting fraud, which costs the Nigerian economy up to $18 billion annually.
She stated, “At ACFE, our core mission is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime by equipping professionals with the necessary tools, skills, and knowledge. We recognize that TVC Communications shares a similar commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency in all its operations. This alignment in values forms a strong foundation for our potential collaboration.”
Dr. Fowokan further outlined the seven-point agenda of the ACFE South-West Nigeria Chapter, which includes capacity building, social visibility, fraud awareness week, global visibility, membership certification, anti-fraud collaboration, and membership drive. She expressed the association’s dedication to supporting TVC Communications in fortifying its defenses against fraud and upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.
Highlighting the significance of the communications sector as a critical infrastructure and a prime target for fraudulent activities, Dr. Fowokan stressed the crucial role of preventing and detecting fraud in this industry.
She also provided background information on the establishment of ACFE in Austin, Texas in 1985, explaining how the merging of accountants and investigators led to the formation of ACFE, with a focus on professional fraud fighting. Today, ACFE is a leading global force in the fight against fraud, bridging the gap between accounting and investigative disciplines.
In response to the collaboration proposal, Victoria Abiola Ajayi, the Group Managing Director/CEO of TVC Communications, expressed commitment to joint efforts and commended the proactive approach of ACFE in addressing fraudulent engagements.
