The Army Has Announced Plans To Focus On Building The Capacity Of Youths In Order To Expedite Economic Growth.

Abuja – The Nigerian Army has made a pledge to continue building the capacity of youth by providing quality educational infrastructure. This commitment is aimed at enabling Nigerian youth to compete globally and contribute to the security and socio-economic development of the nation.

The Nigerian Army reiterated this vow during the commissioning of a block of classrooms and administrative offices at Ahmad Datti Government Secondary School in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano state.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, who was represented by the Chief of Civil Military Affairs Maj Gen Nosakhare Ugbo, emphasized the project’s goal of enhancing students’ learning experience and fostering Army community harmony.

Troops in the Niger Delta areas have also made significant progress, as they recently arrested eleven suspects, discovered and deactivated over 20 illegal bunkering sanctuaries, and confiscated 22 boats used in these criminal activities.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Defence Communications Maj Gen Sani Bashir expressed his appreciation to the COAS for investing in the renovation of the school. He stressed the importance of providing a conducive learning environment for young Nigerians, who are the leaders of tomorrow.

Also present at the commissioning ceremony was the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, represented by the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Sagagi. He commended the COAS for this exemplary initiative, noting that the educational development of the youth is a collective responsibility.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army confirmed that troops from the 6 Division, in collaboration with other security agencies, have been actively cracking down on illegal oil bunkering and associated crimes in the Niger Delta region.

Last week alone, eleven suspects were apprehended, over 20 illegal bunkering sanctuaries were deactivated, and authorities intercepted 22 boats used in these criminal activities. In addition, six firearms of various calibers and cartridges were confiscated, along with over 118,000 liters of stolen oil products.

Throughout the operations conducted in Rivers State, troops were successful in denying economic saboteurs the freedom to carry out their activities. Several active artisanal refineries, wooden boats, and a substantial amount of stolen products were seized.

Similar successful operations took place in other areas of the Niger Delta region. The Nigerian Army destroyed illegal refining sites, intercepted wooden boats, recovered stolen automotive gas oil and crude, and apprehended individuals involved in the act of vandalizing pipelines and transporting stolen products.

As part of these ongoing efforts, troops also confiscated illegal refining equipment, metal tanks, and drums containing stolen products.
