Portable Faces Backlash And Significant Follower Losses Due To Controversial Protest Comment.

Nigerian street pop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has experienced a drastic decrease in his Instagram following. The singer lost over 100,000 followers after making controversial remarks about the ongoing protests in Nigeria.

As a reminder, Nigerians have taken to the streets across the country to protest against the prevalent bad governance, hunger, and hardships. However, Portable, who resides in Sango, Ogun State, asserted on his social media page that there were no protests in his area. He explained that previous demonstrations had been overlooked by the government, which led him and others in his locality to focus on their daily activities.

This statement did not sit well with many fans, resulting in severe backlash. As a consequence, Portable witnessed a mass exodus of over 100,000 Instagram followers.

Prior to this significant decline, fans had already warned that they would stop following him if he continued to make such controversial remarks. Many of them have followed through on their threats, while others have pledged to unfollow him if he persists with his statements.

In addition, Portable had previously posted a video in which he compared himself to billionaire Aliko Dangote. He dismissively referred to the protests as activities for the poor.
