Greenville LNG Co Ltd Launches Lafia L-CNG Station to Provide Cost-Effective Energy Options
The recently inaugurated Lafia L-CNG station by Greenville LNG Co Ltd aims to offer energy cost-reducing LNG and CNG fuelling options to the public.
In a commendable move, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, officially commissioned the project in Shabu, Lafia on Tuesday, 20th April 2024. He praised Greenville LNG for successfully completing the project within the promised one-year timeline as per the Nasarawa Gas Masterplan.
Governor Sule expressed his appreciation for Greenville LNG’s leadership role in Nasarawa’s visionary gas utilization agenda and encouraged the company to expand its business operations beyond the state capital to other areas in the state.
As part of the Nasarawa State Government’s gasification policy to reduce and manage energy costs sustainably, Governor Sule announced that the government is sponsoring the training of 50 youths as technicians for the conversion of automotive vehicles to CNG-powered engines. He also urged local investors within Nasarawa State to collaborate with Greenville LNG and invest in related businesses and projects across the state.
During his speech, the governor emphasized Nigeria’s significant gas reserves, estimated at around 220 trillion cubic liters, and considered Nigeria to be more of a Gas State than a Crude Oil State. He highlighted the potential of Nasarawa State as an oil and gas state and shared his vision of Nasarawa gas fields becoming gas farms to meet the requirements of companies like Greenville LNG in the future.
Representing the Chairman of Greenville LNG, Mr. Eddy Van den Broeke, Alhaji Zubairu Ibrahim Bayi, the Director of Inter-governmental Relations at Greenville LNG Company Limited, expressed sincere congratulations on the commissioning of the L-CNG hub station in Lafia. He recognized Governor Sule’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development that positively impacts the lives of citizens.
Bayi acknowledged the support received from the Nasarawa State Government in granting ample land for the project and praised the Governor for his helpful leadership trajectory. He proudly announced that Greenville LNG successfully delivered the first LNG-CNG Station in the state within the promised one-year period. The Greenville LNG Lafia Gas station is capable of providing a daily CNG dispensing capacity of 32 tons and 220 tons of LNG. Bayi explained the multiple benefits of the station, including cost-effective energy solutions, sustainable business promotion, and the creation of a green climate, positioning Nasarawa State as a leader in green energy compliance.
Furthermore, the establishment of the Greenville LNG and CNG Hub Station and the development of daughter stations across Nasarawa State will generate employment opportunities and contribute to the state’s reduction of unemployment. The use of CNG and LNG will also ensure energy diversification and security for the state’s industrialization agenda.
Alhaji Zubairu Ibrahim Bayi expressed gratitude to the Nasarawa State Government and all agencies involved in the realization of the project. He thanked the Governor and distinguished guests for their presence at the ceremony and wished them a safe return journey.

Minister of Petroleum Resources (Gas); members of Nasarawa State Exco; Principal Officers and Honourable members of Nasarawa State House of Assembly; the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Traditional Council and Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage; Sangari Shabu HRH Alhaji Mahmud Baula; Sangari Kwandere HRH Ahmadu Almakura; Mr. Jide Awolowo, representing the Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Gas; the Managing Director of Nasarawa State Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA), Barrister Abdullahi Ibrahim, and other senior officials of NASIDA; the Managing Director of the Gas Aggregation Council of Nigeria (GACN), Chijioke Uzoho; representatives of NMDPRA’s Executive Directors; and senior bank and corporate executives. The Greenville LNG delegation was led by Alhaji Zubairu Ibrahim Bayi, the company’s Director of Inter-governmental Relations.
