Huawei Nigeria Digital Power has announced the launch of its latest innovation in the commercial and industrial (C&I) solar market – the 150K series inverter. The unveiling took place at a launch event in Lagos, where a large group of energy sector partners, installers, and EPCs gathered. This new product release showcases Huawei’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge, reliable, and efficient solar solutions for the African market.
In his keynote address, Mr. Cruise Ni, the Director of Huawei Nigeria Digital Power Business Dept, highlighted the company’s mission of building a high-quality solar industry in Sub-Saharan Africa and specifically in Nigeria. He discussed the growing demand for photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems (ESS) on the continent, driven by the decreasing prices in the PV value chain and the rising cost of grid electricity. He also emphasized that solar and battery solutions offer excellent return on investment and will drive industry growth in Nigeria, with micro-grids becoming the mainstream in the next decade.
According to Mr. Ni, the inverter plays a crucial role in the PV system, driving 95% of the value with only 8% of the investment. Huawei aims to bring unique value to its partners through continuous technological innovation, lifecycle security assurance, and long-term and stable local operation.
Mr. Ni urged business owners to take advantage of the significantly reduced return-on-investment time for PV and ESS systems, stating that there has never been a better time to invest in solar and batteries.
The 150K series inverter, introduced by Mr. Nick Lusson, VP of Huawei Digital Power Eastern-Africa, is a flagship C&I inverter designed to deliver exceptional performance and reliability. Built on Huawei’s new V6 platform, it has a rated output power of 150 kW and a maximum power of 165 kW. The 150K series offers several key features:
– Increased Power Generation: With 98.8% maximum efficiency and built-in PID recovery solution for 3% energy yield improvement, it ensures ultimate energy efficiency for businesses.
– Active Safety: The inverter incorporates industry-leading safety features, including Smart String-Level Disconnect (SSLD), Intelligent PV Ground-Fault Protection, Smart Connector-Level Detection (SCLD), and active arc extinguishing for fire prevention, providing peace of mind and protecting both equipment and businesses.
– Long-Term Reliability: Through rigorous development and testing processes, including 1400 tests and 21 special tests, the 150K series inverter ensures a long service life of 25 years with 99.999% availability, future-proofing investments.
– Smartest O&M: The inverter features module-level insulation detection for precise fault identification, reducing troubleshooting time and making operations and maintenance more efficient.
– Optimized Balance of System (BOS): The 150K series inverter utilizes MBUS PLC communication to reduce data cable costs and installation costs. It also offers the Smart Design program for automatic design, comprehensive analysis, and optimal design solutions for PV module layouts.
– Grid-Friendly: The inverter provides grid adaptation with intelligent reactive power compensation and a harmonic algorithm to prevent energy yield losses. It is also compatible with PV+ESS solutions for peak staggering and supports diverse business models for more accurate benefit calculations.
The 150K series inverter caters to the evolving demands of the C&I solar market in Africa. Its advanced features, reliability, and scalability make it an ideal choice for commercial and industrial projects of all sizes.
During the launch event, Mr. Orion Jin, C&I Channel Manager of Huawei Nigeria Digital Power Business Dept, emphasized that Huawei offers ongoing support and training to partners on its new product offering. As the first shipment of this product has already sold out, Huawei has developed in-house courses for partners to ensure they can maximize the potential of these products.
Huawei also presented new residential products, including the Smart Guard accessory for residential solar solutions, the 3-phase smart guard capable of managing up to 3 residential inverters, and the MAP0 inverters that can function in unbalanced load scenarios. Additionally, Huawei showcased the LUNA S1 – a modular residential energy storage solution – and the Smart Charger, a residential electric vehicle charger compatible with solar energy.
The Huawei Nigeria C&I solution and 150K series inverter launch received positive feedback from partners, who appreciated Huawei’s efforts in organizing an informative event. Huawei expressed its gratitude to partners for their continuous support and commitment to win-win business partnerships.
