UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini stated that “all rules of war have been broken in Gaza,” citing attacks on at least eight schools sheltering displaced Palestinians over the past 10 days. The latest Israeli airstrike near the Cairo School in Gaza City resulted in the deaths of nine Palestinians, including three children.
Riyad Mansour, Palestine’s envoy to the United Nations, described Israel’s actions in Gaza as the “most documented genocide in history.” Meanwhile, the U.S. envoy to the UN Security Council reported progress in discussions regarding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, nearly four months after the council’s call for one.
Since October 7, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has resulted in at least 38,794 deaths and 89,364 injuries. The estimated death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas-led attacks is around 1,139, with numerous individuals still being held captive in Gaza.
