Nigeria’S Oborududu Advances To Semi-Finals, Positioned For Medal In Paris 2024

In an outstanding performance at the Champ de Mars Arena in Paris, Blessing Oborududu from Team Nigeria showed immense skill and determination in her match against Koumba Larroque. This is certainly a reason for Team Nigeria to celebrate, as Oborududu has now secured at least a medal, regardless of its color.

Oborududu, who first competed in the Rio Olympic Games in 2016, displayed her prowess as a wrestler in the women’s Freestyle 68kg category. Although she initially fell behind with a score of 1-2, Oborududu made a remarkable comeback and managed to win the match with a score of 3-2, thanks to her resilience.

In a dramatic turn of events, Oborududu secured a pinfall with only 30 seconds remaining in the bout, increasing her lead to 5-2. However, the decision was contested by her opponent, Koumba Larroque, who argued that the pinfall was not valid. After a thorough video review, it was concluded that the Nigerian wrestler had indeed secured the pinfall, resulting in a score of 6-2. Consequently, Oborududu was awarded the victory, while a point was deducted from Larroque’s score, leaving the final score at 6-2.

Earlier in the day, Oborududu had an impressive victory over Linda Morais from Canada, with a score of 8-2.
