Ofili Qualifies For Olympic 200M Semifinals With A New Personal Best Of 22.24S

Favour Ofili, representing Nigeria, has successfully qualified for the semifinals of the 200m event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. With a remarkable personal seasons best time of 22.24, she secured the second-fastest position in her race. The only athlete to surpass her was Gabby Thomas of the USA, who finished with a time of 22.20. Another notable performance came from Julien Alfred, the 100m champion, who won her heat with a time of 22.41.

This will be Ofili’s first-ever appearance in a semifinal, as she was unable to compete in the Tokyo Olympics three years ago. Notably, four out of the five athletes who have run the 200m under 22 seconds this year have also advanced to the semifinals. Among them is the world leader, Gabby Thomas, with an impressive time of 21.78. The other Americans, Mckenzie Long and Brittany Brown, along with Julien Alfred, will also be competing.
