A law requiring TikTok to either find a new, non-Chinese owner or face a ban is set to take effect this Sunday. However, there’s little sign the company will be able to finalize a sale in time.

This means that 170 million Americans could lose access to a platform they rely on for entertainment, news, community, and even business operations—especially after TikTok emerged as the first new app in years to challenge American social media giants like Instagram and YouTube.

On Friday, the Supreme Court upheld the law, bringing the potential ban one step closer.

With just two days remaining until the deadline, many questions remain.

Will TikTok cut off U.S. access entirely? While this wasn’t widely anticipated, some reports suggest it could happen.

Will President Biden’s administration take action to prevent the ban? It seems unlikely at this point.

Could President Trump intervene once he takes office? If his expected guest list for the inauguration is any indication, he may indeed try to step in.
