#Endbadgovernance: Peterside Calls For Protesters To Cease Protests

Atedo Peterside, the founder of Stanbic IBTC, has urged the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters to consider ending their ongoing demonstration in order to protect the interests of poor Nigerians. According to Peterside, the burden of the protest is becoming increasingly unsustainable for the less privileged citizens, and there is a growing concern that the longer the protest persists, the greater the chances of criminal elements taking advantage of the situation. Acknowledging the impact the youth have made with their voices being heard, Peterside believes it is now time for them to go home.

President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged the protesters’ demands, and it is necessary to create space for the implementation of desired changes. Peterside emphasizes that if their demands are not met, the protesters can regroup and make a fresh push. He commends the protesters for shaking Nigeria’s core and dispelling the misconception that many youths are politically inactive or indifferent to demanding good governance.

Peterside humbly appeals to the protesters to end the protest now in the name of God. He warns that ongoing mass street action lasting beyond a few days is susceptible to infiltration and takeover by hoodlums. Considering the endurance limits of the less privileged Nigerians, Peterside believes the point has been made and urges the protesters to bring the demonstrations to a close. The massive turnout of protesters has undoubtedly sent ripples of fear throughout the nation, and the federal government is not oblivious to their demands.

Furthermore, Peterside highlights that the President has addressed the situation, and there is hope that the legislators have also taken notice. In the event that they fail to make meaningful reductions in the cost of governance, curb wasteful expenditure, tighten their own belts, or set a positive example, Peterside advises the protesters to strategize, regroup, and hold them accountable once again.

Please bring the protests to a peaceful conclusion today (Sunday) for the well-being of poor Nigerians. You have effectively conveyed your message and your overwhelming turnout has undoubtedly shaken many. The Federal Government is aware of your concerns.

Ultimately, if the desired changes are not realized, Peterside urges the protesters to regroup and reevaluate their approach, ensuring that the government is held accountable for its actions or lack thereof.
