A large group of protesters has effectively shut down the Ancient City of Kano, causing widespread damage to shops and filling stations. Numerous roads have been blocked and rendered impassable by the protesters.
During the protests, Sandaraki Supermarket, Ruofaida Shops, two filling stations, and several small shops along Maiduguri Road, Zoo Roads, and other locations were extensively vandalized and looted.
Security personnel responded to the protests by employing tear gas canisters. These measures were taken at Government House and other sites to disperse the protesters.
The protesters, who originated from various towns on the outskirts of the City Center such as Gama, Tudunwada, Tudunmurtala, and similar areas, gathered in large numbers. Many of them had painted their bodies with different colors.
Incidents of young boys brandishing dangerous weapons were reported in areas such as Hotoro, Maiduguri Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, and numerous other locations. Additionally, they were heard shouting various slogans.
