Rfk Jr. Puts His Presidential Campaign On Hold, Throws Support Behind Trump.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, announced on August 23 that he has decided to suspend his campaign and endorse former President Donald Trump. In a speech from Phoenix, Arizona, Kennedy expressed his belief that he no longer has a realistic path to electoral victory due to what he referred to as “relentless, systematic censorship and media control”. In light of this realization, Kennedy stated that he could not in good conscience ask his staff, volunteers, and donors to continue their efforts when he cannot honestly offer them a real chance at securing the White House.

In addition to suspending his campaign, Kennedy confirmed his support for Trump, citing their alignment on key issues as a contributing factor to his decision. The announcement comes amidst growing speculation about the future of Kennedy’s campaign, triggered by his running mate’s earlier suggestion of potentially dropping out and endorsing Trump.

In recent months, Kennedy’s popularity has waned, with multiple polls consistently showing him polling in the single digits. Financial troubles have also plagued his campaign, as indicated by the disclosure made by Kennedys principal campaign committee, Team Kennedy, to the Federal Election Commission. The committee reported having about $3.9 million in cash on hand at the end of July but were burdened with approximately $3.5 million in debts and obligations.

In light of the suspension of his campaign, Kennedy urged voters in certain states to refrain from voting for him. However, he noted that his name would remain on the ballots in the rest of the states, suggesting that voters in those states could still choose him over Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Kennedy initially launched his 2024 bid as a Democratic candidate but transitioned to running as an independent presidential candidate. At a rally in Glendale, Arizona, Kennedy made a surprise appearance on stage with Trump, underscoring their alignment on several key issues such as ending forever wars, addressing childhood epidemics, securing the border, and protecting freedom of speech.

Thanking Kennedy for his support, Trump referenced the challenges faced by the Kennedy campaign due to legal battles and opposition from the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Meanwhile, the DNC celebrated Kennedy’s withdrawal from the race, with senior adviser Mary Beth Cahill expressing relief that Trump was not receiving an endorsement that could bolster his support.

Following the suspension of Kennedy’s campaign, the Harris campaign made an effort to reach out to RFK Jr. supporters, emphasizing their campaign as an alternative for those who are tired of Trump’s presidency.

During his speech, Kennedy addressed the chronic disease crisis in the United States, citing high rates of COVID deaths and chronic diseases compared to the country’s population. He expressed concern over the prevalence of obesity and its consequences, including an increase in cases of diabetes. Kennedy also highlighted the rise in neurological issues among children, such as ADHD and autism.

Concluding his speech, Kennedy emphasized that his primary motivation for running for president was to address the chronic disease crisis and reform the country’s food production. He expressed hope that if Trump were to be elected, and if he followed through on his commitments, the burden of chronic disease in the country would significantly diminish.
