The Afl-Cio Is Initiating A Voter Mobilization Campaign In Support Of Harris, Aimed At Increasing Her Support Among The Electorate.

The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) has unveiled its most extensive voter mobilization initiative to date on August 27. The organization has pledged to utilize its nationwide organizing machine to assist Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, in defeating former President Donald Trump.

In her second annual State of the Unions speech, AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler stated, “We delivered Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House, and every day since then, we have witnessed a significant difference. Now, it is time to go even bigger because everything is at stake on November 5th.”

This “going bigger” involves harnessing the AFL-CIO’s impressive network of almost 13 million members to influence union voters in critical swing states and on job sites across America.

According to Shuler, when union members are asked about their most trusted source in the political realm, it is not their friends or family but rather their fellow union members. She emphasized the deep bond and familiarity among union workers. “And when you combine that trust with the organizing machine we have built, the ability to connect with our members, families, neighbors, and mobilize at a moment’s notice, you have a force multiplier. You have a movement that can genuinely deliver voters and win an election,” explained Shuler.

Shuler recounted her recent trip to Chicago for the Democratic National Convention, where she discovered many people struggling to make ends meet in the current economic climate.

She attributed this struggle to a system she believes has been rigged by wealthy billionaire executives such as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and former Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos.

Shuler connected Trump to these billionaires, arguing that union members need to fundamentally reshape the system by winning elections, passing laws, and securing the right to stand up for themselves if they want to restore balance.

She also criticized Project 2025, a political initiative published by The Heritage Foundation, as another reason to support Harris. Shuler condemned the conservative policy playbook’s stance on issues like abortion, illegal immigration, and unions.

“If you are a worker or simply believe that workers should have basic fairness to organize, strike, and retire with dignity, you should not tolerate this Project 2025 agenda that undermines those rights,” warned Shuler, insinuating that Trump would implement the plan despite his repeated denials.

Describing the state of the unions as battle-ready, Shuler issued a rallying cry, urging AFL-CIO members to volunteer for canvassing and door-knocking over the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Fred Redmond stated that the goal of the initiative is not only to assist Harris but to support every pro-working candidate at all levels of government.

“There is so much on the line, and we are going to flip the House, keep the Senate, and make Kamala Harris the next President of the United States of America,” declared Redmond.

The AFL-CIO made this announcement shortly after notable independents Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard endorsed Trump.
