Access Bank has reiterated its commitment to supporting young technology enthusiasts by sponsoring the 2024 edition of STEM Africa Fest held in Lagos and Abuja. The event, which was organized by STEM METs and 9ijakids, aimed to empower children with the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindset to succeed in the 21st century.

The festival provided an exciting tech experience to over 4500 children, featuring interactive workshops, tech career talks, and hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) labs, covering topics such as AI, Machine Learning, Coding, and Robotics.

The program also included panel sessions where industry experts and public officials discussed the theme of “Igniting Change through CleanTech and STEAM,” enlightening participants on the transformative power of STEAM education. The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) highlighted how STEAM education empowers students to take risks, engage in experiential learning, and develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Jadesola Adedeji, the Co-founder of STEM METs, reflected on the impact of the initiative and announced its extension to other African countries. This year, STEM Africa Fest will be hosted in Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Kenya, furthering its mission to inspire and equip African youth with future-ready skills. Adedeji also expressed gratitude to partners, including Access Bank, Lotus Bank, Argentil Capital, Oando, Flour Mills, Gradely, Asset & Resource Management Company Limited (ARM), and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), for their support.

STEM Africa Fest is more than just an event; it is a movement to equip African children with the skills they need to thrive in a technology-driven world, Adedeji emphasized.

The festival concluded with the STEM quiz and pitch competitions, where participants competed for over N3 million in prizes, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and innovation. Ohiagu Munachimso Chidiebere from Owerri emerged as the winner of the pitch competition, earning a cash prize of N1 million.
