Renowned actress and filmmaker Akinola Yusroh, popularly known as Damilola Royal, has recently opened up about the sacrifices she has had to make for her stardom.
In a recent interview, she admitted that while she enjoys her celebrity status, it has also deprived her of certain things. When asked about the price she pays for stardom, she candidly replied, “The truth is, yes, it has deprived me of many things.”
One of the main challenges she faces is the difficulty in handling day-to-day tasks. She explained, “These days, I often send people on errands because if I go myself, I end up paying double the regular price for things.”
Furthermore, Damilola expressed her frustration with the way people perceive her as a public figure. She added, “People tend to forget that I am human too and I live in Nigeria as well. Just because I’m a celebrity doesn’t mean I can’t negotiate prices. It’s quite sad, to be honest.”
In addition, Damilola emphasized that stardom has limited her freedom to attend social events without scrutiny. She admitted, “I have to be very selective when it comes to going out. These are the sacrifices that come with being a public figure.”
Damilola Royal, who spent her formative years in Osun State, Nigeria, attended City Nursery and Primary School before moving on to Bisola College of Arts and Science. She later pursued her higher education at the Federal School of Statistics in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The passionate and ambitious actress is not oblivious to the challenges faced by Nigerians. She shared her thoughts on the current state of the country, urging the government to take necessary steps to alleviate the suffering of the people.
“The truth is, our government needs to do better. It’s disheartening to see millions of Nigerians still living in poverty despite our abundant natural resources. We need more job opportunities for the youth, and something must be done about the skyrocketing prices of commodities that affect us all,” she stated.
