Over 18,000 youths in Anambra State are expected to participate in this year’s Anambra Youth Security Summit in Awka. The summit, organized by the Anambra Youth Progressive Forum (AYPF), aims to address the rising level of crime among young people in the state.
The Patron of AYPF, Frank Ekwozor, expressed his concerns about the alarming rate of crime and emphasized the need for such a summit. Ekwozor, who himself was a victim of kidnapping, shared his personal experience of being abducted by young boys and highlighted the urgency to tackle this issue.
The AYPF President, Chika Nwosu, highlighted that one of the key objectives of the summit is to advocate for the establishment of an artisan and mechanic village specifically aimed at empowering and engaging the youth.
The anticipated attendees of the summit include Governor Charles Soludo, the Obi of Onitsha Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, and various high-ranking officials from the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Civil Defence, Immigration, and Customs.
