Eguavoen, Amoo, Temile, And Others Set To Train Coaches For Nis And Lagos Fa

A roster of former Super Eagles players, who have transitioned into coaching roles, are set to be featured as guest speakers at the Lagos FA, National Institute for Sports coaches certification training, scheduled to commence on September 14th, 2024 at the National Institute for Sports in Lagos.

According to a press statement, Austin Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the NFF, Fatai Amoo, former Flying Eagles coach, Clement Temile, a UEFA licensed coach, and Peter Nieketen, a midfield maestro for the national team, will serve as valuable resources for this comprehensive training program, which is expected to be conducted in batches over a period of three months.

Hajji Gafar Liameed, Chairman of the Lagos Football Association, has emphasized the mandatory nature of this training for all coaches based in Lagos who wish to continue coaching in the state.

“We are making this training compulsory for all coaches to elevate the standard of coaching not only in Lagos but throughout the country. We have decided to collaborate with the National Institute for Sports to enhance the capabilities of our coaches and promote the overall development of football in Nigeria,” Liameed stated.

Liameed also affirmed the goal of training a minimum of 2,000 coaches over the next two years.

“We have specifically designed this program to accommodate all coaches, regardless of their level of education. The training will take place every Saturday, allowing us to train approximately 2,000 coaches initially. Subsequently, NIS certification will be mandatory for all coaches in Lagos,” concluded the Chairman of the Lagos FA.

Professor Olawale Moronkola, the Director-General of the National Institute for Sports, expressed that this training program aligns with the modern-day techniques of football, which necessitate constant knowledge enhancement and progression.
