The former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has cautioned the Federal Government against spreading fear ahead of the planned #EndBadGovernance protest scheduled for Thursday, August 1st.
Ezekwesili, speaking through her verified X handle, stated that the protest is a legitimate means for Nigerians to express their grievances regarding the current state of affairs in the country.
Furthermore, she unequivocally declared her full support for the organizers of the protest.
She expressed her concern, stating, “This relentless media propaganda, propagated nationwide by @NigeriaGov and their supporters, is simply a reaction to the resounding outcry from the citizens, who are enduring poor governance and suffering. Instead of seizing this opportunity as a chance for betterment, fear is being escalated throughout the land. It is truly disheartening.”

She pointed out the positive aspect of the massive propaganda machinery that has been unleashed, stating, “At least one good thing has come out of this – the staunch evidence that the power of the people is indeed greater than the people in power. This, we believe, should serve as sufficient proof.”
The #EndBadGovernanceProtest represents a valid exercise of the people’s right to peacefully express their discontent towards their public leaders. It is a collective voice saying, “Enough is Enough!”
I commend and stand with the Nigerian citizens for their resilience in the face of severe economic hardships. May our country witness brighter days as the people discover their power to hold their public leaders accountable.
