The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the peaceful protests against hunger and bad governance in the state.
Following the EXCO meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, addressed reporters and praised the residents for their rejection of anarchy and their embrace of peace.
Omotoso confirmed that Lagos is currently peaceful and that all government activities have fully resumed. He also mentioned that the state government has received thousands of calls from individuals in response to the three contact numbers provided for dialogue within 24 hours.
Omotosho stated, “Lagosians have chosen peace, rejected anarchy, and embraced good governance, which the governor has demonstrated.”
Addressing the setup of three dialogue helplines, Omotoso appreciated the overwhelming response, stating, “We have received thousands of calls overnight. This clearly shows that Lagosians seek dialogue and understanding, not anarchy.”
The commissioner further assured that Lagos will continue to maintain peace, highlighting that the residents cannot afford to let the state fall into violence.
In conclusion, he expressed gratitude to the peaceful protestors for preventing the infiltration of anarchy and violence, and assured that Lagos will reward their efforts.
