Oborududus’ Quest For Gold Dashed

Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu’s hopes of winning a gold medal at the Olympics were dashed yesterday when she failed to defeat Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan on the mat.

The match took place at the Champ de Mars Arena in Paris and was the final event of the day. However, Oborududu struggled to overpower her younger opponent, who displayed more agility throughout the match.

Oborududu initially took the lead with a technical point and seemed to be in control until the last minute. However, Zhumanazarova managed to regain the point and secure two more points in the final 30 seconds, ultimately defeating the experienced Nigerian wrestler with a score of 3-1.

In order to reach the semifinals, Oborududu defeated Linda Morais of Canada with a score of 8-2. She later faced off against Koumba Larouque of France in the quarterfinals, where she managed to secure a win and advance to the next round.

Zhumanazarova, on the other hand, defeated Japanese wrestler Ozaki Nonoka 8-6 to secure her spot in the semifinals. She also dismissed Delgermaa Enkhsaikhan from Mongolia in a previous match.
