Academy For Special Education Needs Leads In Special Education Delivery

A private special needs school, known as Story Academy for Special Education Needs, has reaffirmed its commitment to being a leader in providing a well-rounded education and care for children with Autism, Downs syndrome (ADHD), and other learning disabilities and developmental challenges.

The academy, located in Arowojobe Estate, Mende, Maryland, Lagos, is dedicated to meeting the unique educational needs of children with various learning difficulties and disabilities. It was founded by Mrs Wunmi Kayode, a Nigerian living in the United Kingdom, who has a deep passion for special needs education. She partnered with Ms Esther Jumbo, a renowned Special Education Needs Consultant and teacher based in the UK, to establish this exceptional school.

Nigeria, as a leading nation in Africa, must prioritize the development of its special education sector to cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities. Story Academy has assembled a team of dedicated professionals, including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Behavioral Therapists, to provide specialized skills and support to the students. The aim is to empower them with life skills and functional learning that promote independence and personal growth.

The academy has also garnered support from various professionals who share their vision to create a conducive learning environment for children with special needs, regardless of their background, ethnicity, religion, or social status. The academy recognizes the challenges faced by these children and their families, both emotionally and financially, and seeks to alleviate these burdens.

During a visit to the school, Prof Owolabis Education Corner on New Telegraph commended Story Academy for its deliberate efforts in providing a comprehensive platform for learning, skill acquisition, emotional support, psychological growth, and overall development for children with special needs. The academy boasts a highly qualified and experienced team of teachers and handlers, including Ms Khadijat Olaniyan, a Special Needs Education teacher, and Mrs Eunice, Adewusi, Oyinlola Alade, and Tosin.

In addition to its competitive fees, the academy also offers scholarship opportunities to deserving parents and students. This initiative ensures that every child, regardless of socioeconomic background, can access quality special education.

Owolabis Education Corner strongly encourages parents and guardians of children with learning difficulties to consider enrolling their children in Story Academy for Special Education Needs. It emphasizes that learning difficulties should not be associated with superstition or perceived as a result of spiritual or malicious influences. By spreading the word about this specialized school, families can provide solutions to the educational challenges faced by their children.
