Tuc Clarifies Non-Participation In #Endbadgovernance Protest

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria has announced that it will not be participating in the upcoming national protest scheduled to take place on August 1st. However, the TUC acknowledges that it is the constitutional right of any Nigerian citizen with grievances to protest peacefully. The TUC is advising the police and other security agencies to refrain from intimidating those who choose to participate in the protest, as it is their civic right.

Comrade Festus Osifo, President of the TUC, made these statements during a press briefing on the state of the nation. He clarified that the union has not been contacted by anyone seeking partnership in the planned protest. However, he emphasized that the absence of collaboration with the TUC does not prevent Nigerians from exercising their right to protest.

Osifo emphasized that it is the responsibility of the police and all security personnel to protect the protesters and ensure their safety during the demonstration. The TUC urges the authorities to respect the rights of citizens engaging in peaceful protests.
